The gathering took place on October 2 at Seoul’s Sofitel hotel and targeted South Korean companies seeking entry into international aerospace supply networks.

Bell Textron, which produces the Cobra attack helicopter for the U.S. Marine Corps, dispatched a procurement team to Seoul this month to evaluate Korean aerospace vendors. The trip came after a dedicated forum organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, where 17 domestic firms engaged with Bell officials to explore collaboration opportunities.

The gathering took place on October 2 at Seoul’s Sofitel hotel and targeted South Korean companies seeking entry into international aerospace supply networks. Bell’s representatives examined the company’s procurement guidelines, past supply chain integrations, and upcoming project requirements, then conducted individual technical discussions with pre-qualified Korean suppliers.

Bell’s engagement with South Korea traces back to the Korean War, when its Bell-47 helicopters were deployed for medical evacuation missions. Since then, the company has provided Seoul with various models, including the UH-1H Huey and the more recent Bell 505 trainer, now operated by the Republic of Korea Army. Most recently, Bell secured a contract for its V-280 Valor tiltrotor as part of the U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program, which will phase out aging UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

According to data from the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA), the global aerospace industry market size reaches $622.4 billion (about 909 trillion won) in 2024. The domestic industry is also expanding its pace, growing to a total scale of 11.2 trillion won, including 7.7 trillion won ($5.92 billion) in domestic demand and 3.5 trillion won in exports as of the same year. The Defense Industry Trade Support Center considers the steep growth trend of the global aerospace market as the right time for our companies to join the supply chain.

A representative of Bell Textron stated, “The precision machining technology, quality control, and delivery compliance capabilities of Korean companies possess sufficient competitiveness in the global market,” and added, “We expect to discover excellent partners to work with over the long term in the growing aerospace market.”
